Appearance Matters 11

At the beginning of June, the Attune team (Ciara, Louise & Clairiz) had the pleasure of attending Appearance Matters 11 (AM11), a body image and visual difference conference hosted by the Centre for Appearance Research in Bristol, England. Ciara presented her research on aesthetic procedures and school based body image interventions for teenagers; Louise presented her research on perceptual body image and gender stereotypes and ideal body internalisation in young children.

The team also helped facilitate a roundtable discussion exploring priorities for future research in the field of body image, as part of a partnership between the Body Image Research Network Ireland (BIRN) and the Centre for Appearance Research (UK) - centres of interdisciplinary research on body image.

Overall the conference was a huge success for the team and they are looking forward to the next one in 2028!
